Our team at Hatch comprises of experienced professionals who will provide you with valuable insights and strategies to help you thrive in the difficult South African business landscape.

Ian Fuhr

Ceo / Founder / Coach

Ian has been described as a “Serial entrepreneur”. His working career is lined with a number of entrepreneurial start-up businesses.

These include:

  • A retail chain called Super Mart which was sold to Edcon in 2003.
  • Rebranded to Jet Mart
  • A record company called Priority Records which was sold to Jive Records of the UK
  • A race relations and customer service consultancy called Labour Link which consulted to public companies between 1991 and 1997

A national chain of beauty salons called Sorbet which he launched in 2005

The Sorbet business has subsequently grown to 225 franchised salons and is the largest chain of salons in Africa. In 2017, Sorbet was sold to Long4Life, a listed company. Ian subsequently left Sorbet in February 2019 and set up a new coaching and consulting organisation called The Hatch Institute.

This is aimed largely at helping business leaders with the issues of self development, culture, leadership, customer service and racial healing.

Ian has written three books

(2014)

This book tells the story of his life- long entrepreneurial journey which started when he was 22 years old.

Lee-ann Shepherd

Coach / Facilitator

Lee-Ann is passionate about people and service, which for her translates into “the potential we can harness in order to make a meaningful contribution to the spaces we inhabit.”

 

Her career started in the performing arts, with her appearing in several television and stage productions before transitioning into business. She later held the roles of Head Marketing, PR and Training for Montblanc; and Head Marketing for Diners Club International. Seeking to broaden her people development experience, Lee-Ann then spent some time in behaviour change and workplace socialisation for young job seekers previously excluded from the economy.

 

In 2019, she joined The Hatch Institute as coach, facilitator and content developer. Lee-Ann is an NLP. Enneagram, Lumina Learning and OHFB practitioner.

Les Nkosi Ka Made

Coach / Facilitator

 Les Nkosi-MADE (MA, Wits) is a passionate creative change practitioner through the arts, research and facilitation. He is a well-balanced community capacity enhancement (CCE) and theatre practitioner and social change agent in various fields, responsible for people and organisational development, which entails developing a highly engaged, transformed, diverse and productive workforce with the aid of arts therapy and communications.  His experience in facilitation and behaviour-change work spans nearly 20 years. He has extensive experience in communications and media management and content production as well as performance.

Les is a recipient of Wits University’s Marshal Kander Award for most  outstanding research for two years, 2013 and 2014. He has forged relationships with the Wits Centre for Diversity Studies (WiCDS) in creating meaningful transformation processes in race relations and change. Les’ passion for racial transformation work has serendipitously aligned him with the Hatch Institute since 2019, where he has been working with Ian Fuhr as a facilitator in Culture and Transformation work, with a keen interest in Diversity, Inclusion and Change. 

He is also a cameo actor in popular television soapies such as Scandal, Obstruction, Generations the Legacy, Sokhulu and Partners, The Docket and many television commercials over the years.

 

Asanda Daraza

Facilitator

Asanda is a qualified Social Worker, a Life Coach, impact-driven professional who has dedicated her career to creating inclusive, sustainable, impactful, and psychologically safe environments for women and men. With a wealth of experience spanning over 6 years in coaching, program management, and group facilitation, Asanda is passionate about empowering women and men through courageous conversations and innovative approaches.
